Steppers have become some of the most popular pieces of fitness equipment in health clubs and homes for a number of reasons.
1/. Steppers
are a very effective and challenging exerciser.
2/. Steppers have a relatively small footprint and don't
require
a huge floor space commitment.
3/. Steppers require little maintenance.
4/. steppers
are probably the easiest exercisers (other than bikes) on which to read or
watch television.
However, like any other piece of fitness equipment, steppers are not for everyone.
If you like a lot of variety in your workout, the stepper is not the recommended choice. You are limited to varying the speed of your stepping motion. If you prefer to walk or ride a bicycle, a treadmill or stationary bike would be better suited to your preferences.
The simplest stepper models are typically built with shock-like cylinders that are operated manually.
As the products move up in price, the stepper units become more machine like and sophisticated.
Pre-programmed courses offer instant variety and challenge. The most sophisticated units (such as the Johnson S7000 Stepper) have different looks, feels and features. Make sure that you try out a number of steppers and get the one that you are most comfortable with.
